Description

The Aston Martin Cygnet was created to redefine the concept of urban luxury, combining the British brand's craftsmanship with the practicality of a city car. This particular model is unique and historically significant. It is the prototype used by Aston Martin to finalize the development and production details of the Cygnet between 2011 and 2013.

Hand -built at the Aston Martin Works facility in Newport Pagnell, this Cygnet was not assigned a chassis number (VIN) at the time, reflecting its pre-production status. The engine and chassis were supplied by Toyota as part of the partnership between the two brands, and it was equipped with the 1.33-liter Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine, renowned for its reliability and efficiency—a curious contrast to the refinement and craftsmanship typical of Aston Martin.

Originally painted in Kangaroo Yellow (later renamed Cosmopolitan Yellow ), this Cygnet was used by the brand at international events and official exhibitions, including photo shoots for the launch catalog. Only 17 units were produced in this color. In 2017 , it was fully restored and repainted in the elegant Cumberland Gray , a historic Aston Martin hue shared with James Bond's legendary AMV8 .

In February 2018 , the car was imported to Portugal , where it received its official VIN after an exceptional intervention: Aston Martin sent its stamping machine and the responsible operator from the United Kingdom to Lisbon , ensuring the correct authentication of this example. Today, the car is known as AMI – Aston Martin 1 and is recognized by the Aston Martin Heritage Trust as one of the first homologation ("HD") Cygnets ever built .

With just 43,000km on the clock, this historic prototype is in excellent condition and represents a rare and priceless piece of Aston Martin's modern heritage — a collector's car that combines exclusivity, history and authenticity in an urban and utterly distinctive format.
