Description
VW 1303 Cabriolet 1972
Magnificent condition. Rare and elegant color combination: Light Metallic Green L380 – Turquoise, with beige interior and beige soft top.
The history of the Beetle Cabriolet began in 1948, at a time when Volkswagen was trying to leave behind the scars of World War II and rebuild itself in Wolfsburg. Wilhelm Karmann purchased a model and began developing a convertible version. Production started at Karmann, in Osnabrück, after Volkswagen gave the green light to the project.
The model quickly achieved international fame, competing with its rivals through high standards of reliability, simple mechanics and a reputation for excellent build quality for its era. Its refined and elegant finishes contributed to worldwide success and a strong following among enthusiasts of the brand and model.
The Cabriolet was more than just an open‑top Beetle. The entire body structure was reinforced to compensate for the loss of rigidity caused by removing the roof, and throughout its production history it was always better equipped than the corresponding closed versions.
