GENERAL:
The Rolls Royce Corniche 2-door saloon came on the market in 1971 as the successor of the 1966 Silver Shadow 2-door saloon also built by Mulliner Park Ward (that was a coupe version of the 1965 released Silver Shadow 4-door saloon).
Of the Corniche 2-door saloon based on the Silver Shadow Series I 780 units were built from 1971 to 1978, then followed by a facelift model based on the Silver Shadow Series II, totaling 1090 units.
The name of this superb car originally comes from the French word corniche, a coastal road, especially along the face of a cliff, most notably the Grande Corniche along the French Riviera above the principality of Monaco. These cars were hand-built in the great tradition of British bodywork using only top quality materials including Wilton carpets, Connolly leathers, and varnished walnut veneers.
