Description
2009 RENAULT MEGANE R26.R
- French registration
- Chassis number: VF1CM2H9641215314
- Only 9,500 original km
- A true collector's item: one of the rarest contemporary Renault cars: 450 produced
- 8.17 on the Nurbrurgring: a record at the time.
- Renault demonstration vehicle until 2011, then two collector owners.
Introduced in 2008, the R26.R is the most radical version of the Mégane II RS. Designed by the Renault Sport department with on-track efficiency in mind, it set a record for a production front-wheel drive vehicle on the Nürburgring's northern loop (Nordschleife), with a time of 8 minutes and 17 seconds. To achieve this level of performance, it was lightened by more than 120 kg compared with an F1 Team R26 version. This slimming treatment includes the adoption of a carbon hood, polycarbonate windows, Sabelt bucket seats and the elimination of the rear bench seat.
Produced in a limited series, the popularity of the model on the French market quickly exceeded the manufacturer's initial forecasts. Faced with this unexpected demand, Renault took the strategic decision to divert part of the production planned for other markets to satisfy domestic customers. At the time, the British subsidiary (Renault UK) had reserved a quota of 230 units, but only 159 actually crossed the Channel. The remaining units were reallocated to other destinations. This is precisely the story of chassis VF1CM2H9641215314: originally scheduled for the UK, it was part of this batch reassigned by the manufacturer and delivered new to France in 2009.
The history of this model is highly unusual. Acquired new by one of the brand's dealerships as a demonstration vehicle, it was kept within the network until 2011. The car was then acquired by a collector who carefully preserved it for thirteen years, using it sparingly. In 2024, it finally entered the garage of its current owner, an enthusiast based in the Lyon region.
Aesthetically, the car stands out for its black bodywork, an uncommon color configuration on a model mostly ordered in lighter shades (white, grey or yellow).
The odometer shows only 9,500 kilometers covered since new. This fact, justified and documented by the presence of a maintenance file, explains the remarkable state of preservation in which this vehicle finds itself today.
A Mégane R26.R delivered new in France with a singular factory history, clear traceability, a rare color and particularly low mileage.
The description of the vehicle is based on information provided by the seller, who remains solely responsible for the condition of the property. Maison Osenat verifies their consistency.
