Description
Chassis No. 66170
Engine No. 810069
According to its Porsche Certification of Authenticity included in the file, the car offered here was born a Karmann-bodied 'twin grille' 1600 SC coupe, finished in Signal Red with black leatherette interior, exactly as it is presented today. Jim Taylor discovered it in the showroom of a Colorado Porsche dealer, while waiting for his modern Porsche to undergo servicing; after looking at and being suitably impressed, he arranged to buy it.
The car is very nicely presented inside and out, retaining what appears to be the original body tag, as well as a nice, clean undercarriage, undercoated as original and indicating this has been a good, dry-climate example for much of its life. Hella driving lights add a sporting touch. It is equipped with correct vinyl upholstery, period-correct seatbelts, and square-weave carpeting, protected by coco floor mats, as well as a driver's side mirror, day/night rear-view mirror, a clock, Blaupunkt AM/FM radio with correct speaker grilles, period-correct Nardi steering wheel, and headrests. The engine is stamped with the correct engine number; original hardware is found throughout the neat and tidy engine bay, including dual Solex downdraft carburetors and proper Bosch coils and voltage regulator. Chrome wheels are fitted, including the spare with its matching Vredestein Sprint tire. Accompanying is a jack and full original set of tools, in their original roll.
Showing 66,170 miles at the time of cataloging, this is a very nice example of a most desirably-equipped Porsche, sure to tempt bidders just as it once tempted Jim Taylor!
