EXTERIOR
Presented in a near factory coat of (326) Crystal White, this N1’s paintwork is beautifully presented and a credit to it’s former keepers; hard to believe that this car has covered 20,000 miles. Nismo inspired arches house race bred BBS wheels providing a muscular and aggressive presence, whilst bonnet lip and bumper vents reduce drag as well as improving air flow to the bespoke RB26 engine.

Panel fit and finish is as per showroom specification with both headlights and front fogs showing no signs of moisture ingress. Furthermore, having resided on the salt-free roads of Japan until early 2019, the underside of this example is notably rust-free accentuating the light and careful use over the last 30 years.

Regarded by many as the ultimate Nismo iteration of the original race car for the road by collectors around the world, the N1 achieves legendary status.

INTERIOR
The purposeful cabin is everything you’d want from a ‘90s Japanese performance car – ergonomic simplicity at it’s best. Opening the door presents an extremely tidy interior featuring supportive high-back seats, functional controls within easy reach and a series of gauges offering the driver plenty of feedback. AC was never offered from factory with the N1 although the second owner installed a retro fit system in 2013; utilising an OEM button in the correct aperture.

The centre console remains in excellent scratch-free condition and is pleasingly still fitted with the original Nissan head unit. The gear knob and gaiter have resisted the test of time by presenting little to no wear with only a light patina showing to the original GTR wheel.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Developed by Nismo for the group A and N Motorsport Division, they quickly realised that the standard RB26 engine was too costly to maintain for the race track. Nismo went back and redesigned the engine block and in doing so the RB26DETT N1 was born, with enlarged channels to assist cooling under race conditions and upgraded internals including balanced crankshaft, bigger pistons and upgraded camshafts.

Further to this, the turbo’s internals that were originally ceramic were upgraded to steel turbines for better reliability and durability; thus helping to provide both a lower boost threshold and higher total output.

The car feels significantly sharper in comparison to the standard model, with gearbox and clutch smooth and easy to operate.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
True to lightweight form, the theme continues with V-Spec II specific BBS 17x8J cast aluminium road wheels. These alloys are 20mm wider and with a slightly lower tyre profile; providing more road to tyre contact for extra grip.

Presented in original unrestored condition with no signs of corrosion or wear, these model specific rims are wrapped in the correct 245/45/17 profile Bridgestone Potenza S001’s.

The Brembo brake calipers are stamped with the appropriate logo, as per Victory specification, with plenty of disc and pad material remaining.

HISTORY FILE
This R32 V-spec II N1 was delivered new to Nissan Prince Ibaraki, Mito City, Japan in 1994 where the first owner had enjoyed the dry climate of Japan for almost 20 years before auctioning in April 2011.

The car has been thoroughly maintained throughout its time in Japan, showing light road use and only covering less than 5,000 miles between 2011 to 2019 before being auctioned again.

This stunning example was inspected by the USS Tokyo Auction and graded a 4.5 – providing a perfect independent validation of the cars condition before being purchased by its current owner and exported to the UK in 2019. The car has been kept in climate controlled storage since.

Incredibly this homologation special weighs in at just 1330kg, and with only 63 made this is the ultimate road iteration of the original Godzilla and an incredibly rare sight on UK roads.
