In the 1960’s, Datsun (now Nissan) competed in the small roadster segment against British and Italian makes with their Fairlady (Sports) model, a tiny, no-nonsense convertible that proved popular and reliable. Towards the middle of the decade, a potential replacement was developed by Yamaha, but the 2-liter engine did not meet expectations. The failure of negotiations with Yamaha resulted in the creation of the Toyota 2000GT by Yamaha, and the Silvia by Nissan. However, bigger plans were underway for an export-oriented grand tourer, the 240Z, which would establish a dynasty that continues until this very day: the Datsun / Nissan ‘Z’ car.
A far shot from its original design of the sixties, the Z32 was a rounded, aerodynamic car with emphasis on technology: variable timing, four-wheel steering and a twin-turbo upgrade that would bump it from 225hp to 300hp. The technological prowess and driving dynamics of the car earned it numerous accolades by Car and Driver, MotorTrend, Road & Track, and Automobile Magazine upon its release in the US in 1990.
This eye-catching 300ZX was delivered new in Canada, and is one of the desirable twin-turbo variants. With only 16,000 kilometres on the odometer and original paint and upholstery throughout, this Z32 is guaranteed to transport you back in time to the Nissan showroom floor in 1990.
