EXTERIOR
This 280 SL is a beautiful example of Mercedes’ iconic and stylish two-seater convertible in suitably period ‘Light ivory’.

The body is in superb condition having been rust proofed in the past, the panels all line up correctly and have no dents to be found, on close inspection there are a few light stone chips to front of the car that have been carefully touched in.

All of the cars extensive chrome work looks fantastic with no pitting or dents

The soft top presents well while a colour-coded hard top in excellent condition and allows enjoyable all-year driving.

INTERIOR
The cabin of this 107 has been beautifully preserved with none of the usual areas affected by hard use or neglect; the integrity of the seat bottoms are superb whilst the stitching appears with a consistent and clean weave throughout.

The door panel vinyl coverings are free of wrinkles or shrinkage and fit as they should. The wooden inlays display a smooth lacquer, indicating a delicate use of switchgear whilst the rear bench looks exceptionally clean complimented by unmarked carpet and mats.

A rare wind deflector is also included in the boot for longer top down journeys.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
With long ownership intervals, the car proves to be in excellent health and lifting the bonnet reveals a beautifully prepared engine bay. The engine generates plenty of torque with that familiar silky smooth warble and performs effortlessly whether at cruise or around town. Surprisingly the car also proves to be also quite frugal! The transmission performs without hesitation and shifts confidently through the gears.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The colour-coded chrome hubcap wheels are unmarked and come fitted with matching tyres all round with plenty of tread.

As for the brakes themselves, discs and pads show little sign of wear and the system still provides efficient, quiet and smooth stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
This superb SL was first registered in 1984 and supplied by Rivervale Mercedes-Benz Pangbourne. It covered 40,000 miles in its first 17 years, with 16 dealer entries in the service book, before residing with two subsequent owners that looked after the car for 13 and 4 years respectively adding a further 9 stamps to the service book to complete a total of 25 Stamps to 2018. At which point we were introduced to this prime example and sold it to the current and 4th owner who has in turn thoroughly enjoyed this delightful SL along with hassle free classic car motoring. Before arriving with us it was serviced by specialist John Griffiths who’s name appears predominantly in the well stamped service book and has known the car since 1984!

The full owners pack is present in original clear wallet with service book and a spare key. There are stacks of paperwork including the full price list and options booklet, with almost all of the old MOT certificates to verify mileage and time-lined SORN documentation.
