The Maserati 3500 GT offered here had its delivery in Mexico in 1960, where it benefited from the climatic conditions there. The substance was rust-free and the perfect base before the restoration. Pictures from before the restoration are available. Since the restoration, the Maserati has been adorned in an elegant anthracite grey and inside, a warm cognac-coloured leather makes you not want to get out of the car. The in-line six-cylinder engine with 230 hp and 3.5 L displacement provide powerful propulsion from any position.

According to the Maserati Register, this 3500 GT had three previous owners. The first previous owner in Mexico, the second in the USA and the current one in Germany. It is a collector's car and has only been driven about 5,000 km since its restoration. In the last 15 years, the current owner has only driven it in good weather.

The condition of the Maserati is impeccable and has been assessed in an appraisal with a grade of 1. It is a true collector's item and very well suited for rallies and other events.

History of the series

The Maserati 3500 GT had its debut at the Geneva Motor Show and is the first production car from Maserati and is also considered a style icon. Production started in 1957, which was designed for a larger number of units. The 3500 GT thus shaped an entire sports car era.

The company Carrozzeria Touring, which was responsible for the bodywork at the time, designed two versions of the 3500 GT, a coupé and a convertible. The special feature of these models is a tubular frame on which an aluminium body was placed in order to save weight. This production method was patented by the company Carrozzeria Vignale and got the name Superleggera. The Maserati, which was generously equipped for its time, had an attractive body design, which was nevertheless reinterpreted by designers such as Allemano, Bertone, Pietro Frua and Pininfarina in response to customer requests. In 1958 Carrozzeria Vignale was awarded the contract for the Maserati 3500 GT Spyder, which was presented in the same year.

For propulsion in the Maserati used a derived form of the engine from the 300 S racing car. This 3.5 litre R6 engine made the transfer from motorsport clear. The engine produced 220 hp in the production version and later 230 hp.

The introduction of the Maserati 3500 GT helped the company to international prominence through the appeal of this model series and the start of series production of a large number of units.
