In 1984, Lancia launched its top of the range saloon: the Thema. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, it was part of the cubic trend of the 1980s and was available with engines ranging from the 2-litre four-cylinder to the 150 hp V6 PRV. An unexpected variation was presented in 1986: the "8.32", whose aim was to dethrone the references in the field of sports saloons. From the outside, only the five-spoke wheels, the discreet retractable spoiler, the piping running along the body and the yellow 8.32 badge on the grille differentiate the model. The 32-valve, 3.0-litre V8 engine from the Ferrari 308 Quattrovalvole is retained, with power reduced to 215 hp. The brakes were taken from the Delta Integrale, front and rear anti-roll bars were added, the gearbox from the Thema Turbo IE was redesigned and a Bosch ABS system was fitted. Rightly regarded as a four-door Ferrari, the Thema 8.32 is not a pure sports car, but it does provide outstanding comfort to the sound of the Ferrari V8.
Our example is one of the very first models to be released on 19 January 1987. Navy blue with a light beige alcantara interior, it has the statutory look of its time, but it will need some expense to restore its former glory. In the same hands since 2003, it has only had 2 owners and has just under 20,000 km on the clock!
