The XK-150 is the ultimate evolution of the XK series, preceded by the XK-120 and XK-140, and was unveiled in 1957. The S version was the most successful model of its generation, before a certain E-type replaced it at the beginning of the sixties. Like its predecessors, the XK-150 came in three different body styles, FHC (Fixed Head Coupe), DHC (Drophead Coupe), and finally our version, the OTS (Open Two Seaters), a pure convertible with the top hidden under the body.

Released in New York on June 10, 1958, the car is presented in its original aesthetic configuration, is matching numbers and benefits from a recent well done restoration. The car having been imported from the United States a short time ago, the odometer shows a rather reliable 71,940 miles, or a little over 110,000 kilometers. ENGINE AND GEARBOX
Our example is powered by the original 3.4-liter inline 6-cylinder engine found in many Jaguar racing cars at the time, although a 3.8-liter engine will also be offered. By pressing the start button, the engine comes to life and quickly stabilizes without emitting any particular vibration. Once underway, the power is there in a frank and without hollow. The S evolution allows the car to see a clear increase in power thanks to the installation of 3 SU HD8 carburetors to reach 250 horsepower at the end of the two rear wheels, a considerable figure for the time and especially compared to the total weight of the beast.
The sound of the inline 6-cylinder is captivating, rising to a crescendo as the engine revs, from a beautiful purr in the low revs, to a metallic rumble once the 4,000 rpm are passed. The 4-speed gearbox is precise and easy to handle, with a very short lever, but well placed on the central tunnel. A complete engine check was done by us and makes this Jaguar a reliable car, ready to drive.

EXTERIOR
Although the XK-150 looks more modern than the XK-140, it is still a curvaceous car from another time, when aerodynamics and elegance were one and the same, and when cars offered a clever mix of luxury and sportiness. The original color has been redone and presents a high quality work with a very nice shine and depth. The chromes are in a very good state of preservation, although there are two flaws, one at the front and one at the rear. Because of the OTS bodywork as mentioned above, a soft top in the same color as the interior is available and is attached to the bodywork with clips; this configuration allows the vehicle to have this fluid and racy line. There is no trace of rust.

INTERIOR
The interior is dressed in red leather, in a very good state of preservation and has a nice patina, blending well with the chrome touches. The high quality materials have allowed this interior to withstand more than 60 years of use, especially in the open air. The dashboard is in good condition, with the instrumentation in the center, showing through its black-backed Smiths meters all in working order. The four-spoke wooden steering wheel is in superb condition, as are the thick red carpets. We note the presence of the original car radio.

CONSUMABLES
The front and rear tires are close to new condition and are Firestone Radial Cavallino Sport 200 (185/1693H).
The braking is very good and does not show any signs of advanced wear.
