Description

The Fiat 131 Abarth is one of those rare cars that perfectly bridges the gap between motorsport pedigree and everyday usability. Built as a homologation special, only 400 cars were produced so that Abarth could go rallying on the world stage in the Group 4 top class, making this a special, super rare and collectible machine.

The cars were sent from Fiat to Bertone, who fitted the wider arches and carried out the distinctive body modifications that set the Abarth apart from the standard 131. Finally, they painted and trimmed them. Underneath, Abarth reworked the running gear, including independent rear suspension, transforming what began as a sensible family saloon into a serious competition car for the road.

Further developed and tuned by Abarth themselves, the 131 Abarth went on to dominate the World Rally Championship in 1977, '78 and '80, cementing its place as one of the great rally cars of all time.

This particular example is Abarth Certified and has been fully restored to concours condition. Its bodywork is beautifully painted and benefits from full paint protection film, and the car is as good underneath and mechanically. A great number of these homologation special 131 Abarths were written off or club rallied in period, meaning there are considerably less than 400 genuine cars in existence today. So genuine gem of car like this example is a rare opportunity.
