Description
Testarossa is one of the mythical models and names of the prancing horse. This emblem of the 80s is available for sale at your specialist GoodWill Road. Put into circulation on October 4th, 1990 and with a total of 62 576 kilometers, this model has belonged to the same owner since 2013. Being part of the end of production of the first variant of the model (since the 512 TR and 512 M will follow until 1996), the vehicle benefits from the adjustments made on the chassis of the first years of production, but keeps at the same time its original and pure aspect.
The vehicle benefits from a clear history and an up to date maintenance, has its maintenance books, its original toolbox and has never been part in an accident. Technical control, Histovec and Car Vertical report favorable and available.
ENGINE AND GEARBOX
Using the platform of its predecessor, the 512 BB, the Testarossa also uses the engine, a 12-cylinder 5-liter flat engine from Formula 1, developing a whopping 390 horsepower after some improvements. But its power is not its only asset, since this flat architecture also allows it to drastically lower the car's center of gravity. The engine of our example does not emit any particular vibration, is smooth in operation and provides a clean and linear thrust. Reliable if well maintained, the engine is quite accessible thanks to the removable underpinnings which allows to decrease the revision bills on this element. The gearbox is precise, fast, but fragile, especially the 2nd and 3rd gears, as well as the synchronizers, the differential and the clutch.
The last maintenance has been done in anticipation of its passage from 70 000 km to 62 218 km in January 2020 at the Ferrari specialist Di Meglio Sport in Grenoble, France. This last one consisted in a big overhaul including the very important replacement of the timing belts (to be done every 40 000 kilometers maximum), fluids and filters.

EXTERIOR
The design signed by Leonardo Fioravanti, chief designer at Pininfarina, of the Testarossa is recognizable among thousands : its pop-up headlights, its side gills as aerodynamic as they are spectacular and an open rear end by its horizontal ventilation are a summary of the design of the 80s. Our example is dressed in the traditional original Rosso Corsa color. The body is matching colors except for the rocker panels which are repainted in red. The paint of our car reveals some imperfections, especially on the front left wheel arches and a crack on the front bumper and the front right headlight, the thickness measurements of the paint are good. An estimate for the paint repair at our body shop is available. No rust to worry about with the light alloy on all body panels; only the roof and doors are steel. The retractable headlights are in working order.
INTERIOR
The two-tone Crema and Testa Di Moro leather interior is in good condition in terms of upholstery and seating despite its flimsy and average finish, especially above the dashboard. The plastics are in good condition and do not show any major marks or stick. The carpets and rugs are also in good condition except for a few tears in the plastic heel protection. No electrical malfunctions or overheating of the fuse panel have been noted on the vehicle, the air conditioning, window opening and dashboard instrumentation is in perfect working order.
CONSUMABLES
As a post-1988 model, our vehicle is fitted with restyled wheels and conventional (non-TRX) tires. The front tires are 2000 Goodyear Eagle GS-A (255/40 ZR18) to be changed (3 mm front tread depth), while the rear tires are Bridgestone Expedia (295/35 ZR18) with 3.9 mm rear tread depth to be changed as well.
The brakes are in good condition: pads and discs are in very good shape and not to be changed in the near future.
The coast of the Testarossa experienced a point in 2016 at 150,000 euros. Despite a drop in the last 5 years, the price has continued to rise (+4%) to 115,000 euros today. The speculative potential is there with an example like ours, with a clear history and a body in very good condition.
