Description
This Citroën SM, completed in 1970, one of only 868 examples from the first production year, was first registered on 11th January 1971. In February 1995, the elegant coupé with its Maserati V6 engine and the extremely rare - probably installed by Chapron - electric sliding roof, was taken over in rather “average” condition by the vendor. After an initial overhaul of a multitude of mechanical components, he drove the SM for a number of years. The Citroën enthusiast then decided to embark on a near complete restoration of the car between 2005 and 2008. All mechanical components were overhauled, the coachwork restored and repainted from Gold to the actual Granate-red and the interior received new carpets. The original leather seats were cleaned but thankfully left with the original leather. In addition, he had the exceedingly rare Michelin RR composite rims installed. A photographic documentation of the restoration is available. This SM is in very good overall condition and will be sold with the last Veteran MOT passed in May 2017. For a Swiss buyer the MOT will be renewed after the sale.
