1953 Aston Martin DB2 DHC - LML/50/295

Steel Wings proudly offers this exceptional 1953 Aston Martin DB2 Drophead Coupe. This incredibly authentic and beautifully restored example is one of 411 DB2s built between May of 1950 and April of 1953. This example has remained in the same collection since the mid-1970s and was fully restored by Steel Wings.

Mr. Basil J. Garris Esq. of Palo Alto, CA. took delivery of LML/50/295 from Kenneth Boyd’s “Aston Martin Service” in Moraga, CA on September 2, 1953. The original build sheet for this numbers-matching, left hand drive, U.S.-spec vehicle indicates the original color scheme of a stunning “Delft Blue” over dark blue leather interior, and a grey convertible top. Although the current top is blue, its style and construction maintain exacting originality.

As the name suggests, the DB2 is the second model introduced under the ownership of David Brown after his acquisition of both Aston Martin and Lagonda in 1947.

This example is one of the best in the world. Keen-eyed Aston enthusiasts will note that LML/50/295 sports unique and exceptional original features including factory-optional Borrani wire wheels, (a very unusual option on a DB2), and the Smiths Bijou cigar lighter. The car also comes with the correct complete tool kit and the incredibly scarce original factory DB2 instruction book! Approximately 100 DB2 Drophead Coupes were built by Aston Martin; the combination of originality, options and color may well make this car a “one of one” example.

Grand Prix champion Phil Hill once said of the DB2, " the Aston handles as well as any sports car I've driven, far better than any passenger car...the DB2 handles like a dream." The combination of performance, comfort and understated style is hard to beat.

Today, DB2 LML/50/295 is eligible for all major international concours as well as driving events such as the Mille Miglia, Copperstate 1000 and more. The interior is gorgeous and very comfortable. There is plenty of room for baggage in the rear compartment, and the silky 2.6-litre dohc engine will get you where you are going in an elegant hurry.
