Description
The Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider was built in 1963 by Carrozzeria Touring in Milan.
The current owner purchased the vehicle in 2013 as a restoration object. He chose to fulfil a nut and bolt restoration at the highest level in Germany, which took place between 2014 and 2016.
A great effort was put into preserving originality, without taking into account the costs involved. A six-digit amount was invested to revive the fascination 2600 Spider. All restoration work is documented within the invoices. The car is painted in a timeless gray metallic, the red leather, like the rest of the Alfa, is still in perfect condition. This was again confirmed in 2019 by a Classic-Analytics report with a grade of 1 (mint).
The hydraulic brakes, on discs at the front, on drums with propeller wings for ventilation at the rear, decelerate the Spider surprisingly well thanks to its modern tyres. The three Solex double carburetors offer an emotional sound, which provides true pleasure whenever you touch the gas pedal.

History of the series
------------------------
The Alfa Romeo 2600 is a series of models produced between 1961 and 1969 that were produced as the Berlina (sedan), Spider (open 2+2 seats) and Sprint (coupé). The Spider (Type 106. 01) was produced by Carrozzeria Touring in Milan from 1961 to 1965.
As a successor to the Alfa Romeo 2000, the focus of development was mainly on the desire for more engine power. The four-cylinder engine with a maximum of 115 hp was already taken over from its predecessor, the 1900. In the tradition of Alfa Romeo 6C (= 6 cilindri / 6 cylinders) they got to work and changed the body of the 2000 in such a way that they received more space in the engine compartment. Alfa Romeo’s visionary engine designers then created a real sensation at the time with the newly developed 2.6-litre engine. The in-line six has an aluminium block and delivers 145 hp from its 2584 ccm thanks to its two overhead camshafts and three Solex double carburetors. That was enough for a top speed of about 200 km/h and driving performance, which at the time was comparable with the Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda.
However, the Alfa also cost as much as a Pagoda, so there were not many customers for the model series. A total of 11,294 cars of the three body types were sold, including only 2,257 Spiders.
