Industriewerke Ludwigsfelde, better known as IWL, with production headquarters in East Berlin, was heavily involved in the construction of Luftwaffe aircraft during the Second World War. At the end of the war, it seized the opportunity presented by the strong demand for mass motorization at affordable prices in order to market its own scooter called Pitty in 1959. This was a truly original model with a large and protective front fairing, a comfortable two-seater saddle and the engine placed in front of the rear wheel rather than to the side as was customary at the time, to limit the wheelbase of the vehicle. It was a commercial success with 11,293 produced. A truly desirable classic and a pleasure to ride. Restored and presumably never used since. A general mechanical check is recommended before use.
