Snapshot 2013: Daft Punk and a good reason to brake

When the French electro-musicians of Daft Punk climb behind the wheel of their black Ferrari 412, not much will tempt them to brake. Except, of course, top model Saskia de Brauw. How fortunate that celebrity photographer Peter Lindberg just happened to be standing in the road…

Back in 2006, French disco duo Daft Punk made the hitherto largely ignored Ferrari 412 – for one moment –the coolest classic on the planet, thanks to their short film Electroma. At the end of 2013, the most famous helmet-wearers since Darth Vader were reunited with their black Italian beauty: together with the model Saskia de Brauw, they were photographed for ‘M’, the magazine from French newspaper Le Monde. Behind the camera was no less a figure than Peter Lindberg, the master of black and white elegance. The images are, of course, outstanding, but one thing puzzles us: is the Ferrari surrounded by sea-spray, or is it the vapour from a 12-cylinder Italian diva boiling over in protest against another seemingly eternal on-set delay?

The image shown here is from the exhibition ‘L'Automobile et la Mode’, which runs from 4-19 October 2014 as part of the Paris Motor Show in Hall 8e of the Paris Expo-Porte de Versailles. More details at www.mondial-automobile.com.
