The only thing on Jackie Stewart’s mind this close to the start of the race is how he’ll be attacking St. Devote, the sweeping first right-hander. He’s done much of the hard work already by placing his Tyrell on pole position, a whole second ahead of Jacky Ickx’s Ferrari. It’s notoriously difficult to overtake around Monaco, and qualifying is almost as important as the race. This weekend, Stewart is also playing the film star, as the famous director Roman Polanski is documenting the Scot’s entire weekend with a handheld camera. Fortunately for Stewart, the race will go without drama and he will lead throughout. In extending his lead to 24 points, 14 ahead of his nearest rival Jacky Ickx, he will take another step towards winning his second Formula 1 World Championship...
