Cutting a dash

For those who haven’t walked amongst the thousands of Revival revellers in perfect period outfits, the experience is rather tricky to describe. Becoming immediately immersed in yesteryear with the sights and sounds of motorsport’s glory days, the level of authenticity in the backdrops and displays is matched year after year by thousands of attendees, all visibly overjoyed to be transported back to a simpler, stylish period. Two items were particularly prominent this year, one for celebratory reasons and the other out of necessity. From Gordon to Stewart, tartan was a popular embellishment, in homage to Ecurie Ecosse, while the temperamental weather resulted in a mobile catwalk of the most fashionable raincoats one could ever wish to see. For the drivers and mechanics, classic overalls with the iconic logos of Shell and Firestone filled the cockpits of the assembled exotic metal, often paired with a staple accessory of the Revival — the cigar. Special mention must go to the young drivers of the adorable Settrington Cup, out staging many with their devil-may-care attitude and youthful exuberance as they commandeered their vintage pedal cars around the track. They do say that true style comes from within, after all…
