Our 10 favourites from Silverstone Auctions’ annual May Sale

At Silverstone Auctions’ annual May Sale, taking place on 20 May at the Silverstone circuit, a broad mix of classic and modern collector cars will be offered, to suit every budget. We’ve selected our favourites…

You know an auction catalogue is diverse when you go from a 2015 Bowler EXR-S (est. £95,000-115,000) to a rare right-hand-drive 1962 Maserati Sebring (£180,000-220,000) in just a few pages, and that essentially sums up Silverstone Auctions’ May Sale.

Elsewhere, we were reminded of the sheer beauty of the Aston Martin DB9 – this low-mileage (30,000 miles) 2005 example nods to its illustrious forebears in the retro shade of ‘California Shade’, and is estimated to fetch just £30,000-40,000. That’s impressive when you consider the car cost over £120,000 new, just 11 years ago. For those who prefer their Astons older, the ‘barn-find’ 1968 DBS could be a snip at £50,000-60,000 – given you’re brave, patient (and wealthy) enough to undertake a full restoration to its former glory, that is. You can find the rest of the catalogue for Silverstone Auctions’ May Sale listed in the Classic Driver Market.
