Do bird streaks on a Jaguar E-type define modern art?

October is one of the busiest months in London’s art calendar – so, in order to maximise the impact of his ‘Albion’ display at the Loughran Gallery, artist Dave White turned a Jaguar E-type into one of its highlight exhibits…

The main goal of the contemporary Britist artist’s latest collection is to “explore the heritage and iconography of species native to Britain”, making the Jaguar E-type the ideal blank canvas, quite literally. “I would like to pay homage to our very own subjects and threatened creatures that we take for granted,” says White, whose signature style blends fine detail with erratic brush strokes to signify the dynamic nature of his subjects. “It is a stark reality that species we take for granted will be gone in less than 30 years.” Thankfully, the big cat’s desirability should spare it the same fate.
