Lamborghini Countach 5000 S

The Lamborghini Countach embodies the ultimate exotic machine of the 1980s. No supercar was as extreme and extravagant as this legendary Lambo. It left an indelible mark and claimed a special place in the beating hearts of a young generation of car enthusiasts. The Countach has everything that turns a boyhood dream into reality: power, temperament, looks, attitude and pure emotion. For most, this Italian icon will forever remain just that dream. And it is precisely that sense of inaccessibility that makes a car like this even more desirable.
This breathtaking example is the highly sought after 5000 S version, of which only 323 were built. Our car was delivered new in Sweden and underwent a complete restoration in 2020. The current owner has cherished this Italian beauty for over 20 years and covered 60 percent of its total mileage. Please note that the original tool kit is present, along with a magnificent 12 cylinder powerhouse.

History
The creation of the Lamborghini Countach is a story in itself. With its razor sharp, artistic design and otherworldly silhouette, it was literally mistaken for a spaceship by local residents during its final testing phase near the factory. One thing is certain: this Italian machine launches like a rocket.

This specific and unique example was delivered to its first owner in Sweden in 1984. Ten years later, the 5000 S made its way to the Netherlands. The second owner purchased a Countach for each of his two sons. This is one of them. Due to personal circumstances, the Lambo was soon offered for sale again and passed to a third owner who drove it for just one year and, judging by the mileage history, mostly admired it. With only 22,000 km on the clock, the Countach 5000 S changed hands again in 2005, when the current and fourth owner fulfilled his Italian dream.

Between 2019 and 2020 the car underwent a comprehensive restoration, including stripping the body back to bare aluminum and a complete respray. The engine was rebuilt by the specialists at Mugello. Since then, only 3,500 km have been added. That leaves plenty of V12 pleasure for you to experience.

Exterior
The Lambo Countach represents the pinnacle of automotive extravagance. Its styling is extreme and unmistakable, defined by its razor sharp nose, flat windscreen, low and wide bodywork, massive rear wing and of course its iconic scissor doors. Marcello Gandini, then working for Bertone, achieved something extraordinary by sketching a design that could be drawn from front to rear in one continuous motion. Unprecedented.
The famed 5000 S, also known as the LP500 S, is by far the most striking version. It can be recognized by its prominent body colored wheel arch extensions, telephone dial wheels, raised air intakes on the shoulders and the aforementioned rear spoiler. Compared to the more restrained LP400 without the S designation, the upgrade is substantial. Finished in deep red or burgundy, Italian emotion seems to drip from the bodywork.

Interior
The interior of the Lamborghini Countach 5000 S was crafted with the same passion. Or rather, the cockpit. Entering over the wide sills and beneath the low roof requires some flexibility and practice, but the reward is exceptional. The layout is delightfully angular and unmistakably 1980s. The execution is equally refined. The way the red returns in the two tone leather bucket seats, center console, dashboard, steering wheel, carpets, headlining and piping along the black leather tunnel console and doors is beautifully detailed. Even the stitching is red. The only exception to the black and red configuration is the gear knob, as if it knows that this is where the real difference is made.

Engineering and Performance
Some may call it demanding. And indeed, with nearly 5 liters of Longitudinale Posteriore V12 power mounted directly behind you, 375 spirited horses roaring in your ears and a manual gearbox operating through a traditional open gate, the Countach LP500 S can make you work for it. Yet it is worth every moment. By modern standards this exotic may no longer be the fastest, but it is certainly among the most intense. The 12 cylinder engine sounds thunderously beautiful and the driving experience is as characteristic, eccentric and distinctive as the design itself. There is no drive like one in the iconic Countach. The legend lives on, and as far as we are concerned, not only in your dreams.
