Beschreibung

The 1965 Porsche 911 2.0 SWB ...National origin ... Fully restored, it features a magnificent color combination of Schiefergrau gray and Bordeaux interior. Launched in 1964, it was initially designated 901. However, due to a legal dispute with Peugeot, which owned the rights to three-digit designations with a “0” in the middle, Porsche was forced to change the name to 911. Thus, one of the most iconic cars in history was born, designed to succeed the Porsche 356, but with much greater ambition and sophistication. The first versions, produced between 1964 and 1966, were distinguished by their short wheelbase (SWB) of only 2,211 mm. This configuration, combined with its low weight and traditional “all-behind” layout – rear engine and rear-wheel drive – gave it exceptional agility, although it required some skill from the driver when pushing the limits of grip. The engine was a 2.0-liter, air-cooled, rear-mounted six-cylinder boxer engine, delivering around 130 hp at 6,100 rpm. Coupled with a five-speed manual transmission, it offered impressive performance for its time, with vigorous acceleration and a top speed of close to 130 mph, remarkable figures in the mid-1960s. Inside, the 911 was more modern and refined than the 356, but without sacrificing the functional simplicity that had always characterized the brand. The instrument panel, dominated by five circular dials, became a Porsche signature. The front seats offered good lateral support, while the rear seats were more symbolic, suitable for both passengers and luggage. The first series of the 911 SWB, produced between 1964 and 1966, are now particularly prized by collectors, not only because they represent the model's inaugural years, but also for their aesthetic purity, driving performance, and their role as the starting point for Porsche's most famous lineage.
