EXTERIOR
Building on the classic shape of the 997 the 2nd generation GT3 RS is a beautiful, yet formidable car to behold. Finished in a stunning shade of Aqua Blue with contrasting Guards Red decals this example is anything but subtle, with the vibrant combination drawing attention as the metallic finish comes to life in the sunlight.
Designed as an outright track weapon the GT departments intentions are clear from the outset; with flared arches to house the wide-track lightweight centre lock wheel, a series of precision intakes and a huge carbon rear wing the GT3 RS is all about ultimate lightweight performance.
Benefitting from front end PPF condition of the car is very good, with no major imperfections to note and just a few light stone chips on the widened rear arches visible upon closer inspection.
INTERIOR
Specified with a combination, alcantara and technical fabric the cabin of this GT3 RS is a purposeful yet comfortable space. Consuming the rear of the car a tonal red roll-cage sits in place of the usual 911 seats, providing an anchor point for the matching red Schroth Racing harnesses that fasten the occupants into place. The carbon fibre bucket seats provide incredible support and show with minimal signs of wear, upholstered in a hard wearing technical fabric for the ultimate lightweight spec.
Thoughtfully upgraded to suit the track focused configuration of the car the cabin is fitted with a Racelogic lap timer and camera recording software to review racing footage, whilst the standard steering wheel has also been cup style Momo alcantara example.
Remembering this is still a road car not all luxuries have been forgotten, with the added benefit of automatic climate control, Porsche Dynamic Lighting System (PDLS) and a PCM 3 system with satellite navigation, CD player, radio and Bluetooth.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Producing 429bhp the standard 3.8l engine found in the 997.2 GT3 RS is a mighty powerplant by anyone’s measure, however compared to this example these numbers become suddenly less impressive. Developed and built by the crack team at Manthey Racing this example features a very special flat-6; bored to 4.2l and producing 523bhp this race derived unit is larger and more powerful than any naturally aspirated engine ever fitted to a road car by the Porsche factory.
Paired to an exquisite 6-Speed manual gearbox the end result is an astonishingly capable car, offering a level of driver engagement eons ahead of its contemporaries on the road whilst putting thoroughbred Cup cars to shame on the racetrack.
Costing over £53k the engine was fitted by Manthey racing on 08/05/2018 and has covered less than 5k miles to date, with regular servicing since installation to ensure everything remains in excellent working order.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Completing the striking colour scheme of this GT3 RS are a stunning set of lightweight 19” OZ Ultraleggera Alloys finished in Guards Red. Each wheel is wrapped in premium Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, with plenty of depth remaining all around. Ensuring on track performance can be maximised the car is also provided with 2 spare sets of wheels and tyres, consisting of 19” BBS split rims and a set of full slick and race wet tyres.
Furthering the already impressive set-up a set of Surface Transforms carbon ceramic brakes provide strong, consistent stopping power whilst the standard suspension has been replaced by a fully adjustable KW V3 Clubsport EXR set-up.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on 25/11/2010 this stunning Porsche 997.2 GT3 RS was one of the last cars to be built in the 2,000 car production which ran from 2009 to 2011. Imported to the UK in late 2014 the car was purchased as the basis for a no expense spared build, with the owner seeking to create his ultimate expression of the GT3 RS.
Consulting with specialists Manthey Racing and JZM over £142k has been spent on transforming and maintaining the car in the past 6 years, with upgrades including a full KW Clubsport EXR suspension set up, Surface Transforms carbon ceramic brake upgrade and most importantly a fully built 523bhp 4.2L Manthey Racing engine, fitted at 32,912 miles in May 2018, costing over £53k for the legendary racing company to supply and fit in house.
Servicing has been carried out regularly since arriving in the UK, with 7 stamps outlined in the service book including amongst this thousands of pounds worth of upgrades, with the most recent service carried out by specialists RPM Technik on 27/01/2020 at 35,694 miles.
Present with the car is a stamped service book, comprehensive file of service invoices and parts, 2 spare sets of wheels and tyres, trackway exhaust, V5 and 2 keys.
