It debuted in period competition with Porsche works driver Hans Herrmann, achieving a third-place finish at the 1966 Sierre-Montana-Crans hillclimb. Subsequently campaigned extensively by privateers, including Rudi Lins and Rolf Stommelen, the car entered over 250 races, contributing to the model’s triumphs such as class victories and overall podiums in endurance events.

A highlight of its provenance is its association with three-time Formula 1 World Champion Niki Lauda, who co-drove 910-001 in the 1969 Österreichring 1000 km race under Bosch Racing Team sponsorship—an early milestone in the young Austrian’s ascent to motorsport immortality.
