EXTERIOR
Built by Spyder, this 718 RSK Recreation looks superb with near exact measurements and templates of the original car. It is therefore identical in size and proportion, but uses the more durable GRP rather than aluminium of the original cars which were prone to dents.

Perfectly proportioned the simple curves and elegant lines of the Porsche 718 RSK create one of the most beautiful forms in automotive history. Taking inspiration from Porsche’s early race cars, this stunning recreation sports a stunning Deep Sea Blue finish with contrasting Chrome details defining the long, aerodynamically styled arches at the rear.

Functional cooling vents detail the clean rear end of the 718 and add to the road/race inspired feel of the car, while intricate bright work to the aluminium front mounted fuel filler, shallow screen and aero cone sat behind the drivers head all accentuate the enormous attention to detail of this fabulous build.

Overall condition of the exterior is excellent; showing with a deep shine throughout the paintwork shows free from any discernible blemishes.

INTERIOR
Weight saving was the main focus of the original 718 RSK so it’s great to see this evocation staying true to form. Riveted throughout, the interior panels are wrapped in blue leather whilst the handles and pedals are constructed from stainless steel; saving weight and staying true to the wonderful period aesthetic of the car. Maintaining the Porsche racing heritage, the owner specified the car with a gorgeous balsa 917-style gear knob.

Supple Blue leather adorns the low slung GRP bucket seats to add a sense of luxury to the simplistic cabin, with matching door cards offset by contrasting switch gear/steering wheel to create a stunning space with a convincing 1950’s feel.

The period feel continues with a set of 718 style faces for the dials alongside TRS harnesses, circle brushed aluminium finished firewall and even a hexagonal race stitching on the seats to grip the driver in place.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Having covered minimal mileage since construction, the 1.6L Beetle engine and drivetrain are in excellent health with the mid engine twin pot flat four bursting with character across the rev range. The 4 speed gearbox and clutch are quick and easy to operate.

The chassis is very similar to the fully space-framed original car; showing exceptionally clean throughout.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The period correct 15 inch steel wheels present unmarked wrapped in a matching set of near new tyres.
A front disc upgrade ensures there is plenty of stopping power available for this lightweight special.

HISTORY FILE
Having covered just over 500 miles since completion, this Spyder presents as new in near perfect condition. With real 718 RSK’s trading for seven figure sums, this evocation really represents excellent value for money at a fraction of the cost of the ‘Real Deal’.
