Beschreibung
By the mid-1980’s, it was becoming clear that the beloved R107 series was in need of a replacement. The 1970’s steel-and-chrome styling was replaced with an innovative, angular design featuring multiple suspension, steering and drivetrain improvements, along a myriad of creature comforts. The result was the R129 series, the most advanced and luxurious SL to date. Its timeless styling, capable performance and superior engineering made it an icon of the 1990’s and a universal symbol of success.
In 2002, the last year of the R129, Mercedes-Benz produced a limited 1,550-car edition of the Silver Arrow, honoring the brand’s racers of the 1930’s, 1940’s and 1950’s. The special trim included a machine-finish accents, a two-tone interior, special wood trim and wheels unique to the Silver Arrow edition. Collectors praise the 2002 Silver Arrow as being the very last of the Daimler Mercedes designs before their merger with Chrysler, marking the end of an era.
This investment-grade SL500 has covered less than 5,000 miles from new, and is ready to be part of the discerning Mercedes connoisseur's repertoire as one of the very last of their kind.
