The SL Series 107, The SL, which debuted in 1971 as the successor to the so-called Pagoda SL (W113 series), established a new design language for Mercedes-Benz with its wide-beam H4 headlights and large, ribbed taillights. A slight wedge shape hinted at improved aerodynamics. The responsible designer for this series was once again Friedrich Geiger, who had already been responsible for the timeless creations of the 300 SL (including the Roadster) and the coupé derived from the W111. It was produced until 1988 and received various improvements and different engines over time. Today, it represents the link between the W113 (Pagoda) and the R129. An SL of the R107 series is suitable for everyday use, reliable, safe, and practical. Hence its success. With a hardtop, it is a fully-fledged coupé in the colder months, and with a soft top, a purebred roadster offering open-air driving pleasure in the summer.
