Beschreibung
The W180, better known as the 'Ponton', was distinguished by its rounded and harmonious body lines and integrated fenders, a novelty in the 1950s! With an elegant aesthetic, now presented in grey, and a refined driving experience, the 220 S attracted wealthy buyers seeking sophistication and luxury, meaning that fewer than 2200 units saw the light of day!
Under the hood is a 2.2-liter six-cylinder engine, equipped with two carburetors, which produced approximately 106 hp. At the time, this was a very 'responsive' car, with smooth and reliable performance and a top speed of around 160 km/h!
The innovation extended to the transmission and chassis, as the 4-speed gearbox control, mounted on the steering column, was synchronized and the front suspension was independent, which contributed to a comfortable and stable ride.
This particular example has already been restored and is presented in a well-maintained condition, faithful to its original characteristics.
The interior lacked cutting-edge technology, but the comfort and materials were among the best of the 1950s, featuring high-quality materials, wood trim, leather upholstery, and chrome details.
With just 135,500 km, this example stands out for its excellent condition and authenticity. An excellent opportunity to acquire a timeless classic that combines elegance, history and driving pleasure.
