In the late 1960s, a remarkable car emerged from the illustrious Italian manufacturer Maserati: the Ghibli, a name that evoked the hot winds of the Libyan desert.

This Ghibli AM115 746, with its stunning Bianco Polo Park exterior and Pelle Nera (Black Leather) interior, complemented by Tappeti in tinta (matching carpets), was a masterpiece of design and performance. It was ordered on October 10, 1968, and delivered just over a month later, on November 26, 1968, through the dealer Sport Auto Roma to Mr. Marcello Masciolini in Rome.

The Ghibli represented a significant departure from Maserati's previous designs. It was a bold step into the future, aligning with the introduction of the Autostrada network in Italy and Europe, which heralded a new era of high-speed, long-distance travel. The Ghibli was conceived to dominate this new world, blending speed with a level of comfort that was unparalleled at the time.

The Ghibli's aesthetics were radically futuristic and striking, designed by Ghia and its brilliant young designer, Giorgetto Giugiaro. The car's wide, low stance and chiselled lines for speed exuded speed and class. The Ghibli was the first V8 Berlinetta for Maserati, codenamed Tipo 115. Its design was a sleek, glamorous jet for the road, turning heads and captivating hearts wherever it went.

The Ghibli was particularly successful in the United States, where its substantial presence was highly appreciated. The car's design was so influential that Henry Ford II bought one and used it as a benchmark for his design team. On the road, the Ghibli was the epitome of a long-distance Grand Touring car, supremely stable and capable of cruising above 200km/h with unfailing serenity.
