Step into Formula 1 history with the Lotus 87B – Ford Cosworth, a rare and iconic piece of motorsport engineering. Originally built for the 1981 F1 season, the Lotus 87 marked a major technological advancement as the team’s first car to feature a carbon fibre chassis. This specific example—chassis 87/3—is the only one upgraded to full 87B specification for the 1982 season, distinguished by its wider side pod ground-effect tunnels and swept rear suspension for a longer wheelbase.
Driven by Elio de Angelis in period, this chassis scored points in five Grand Prix, including an impressive 4th place finish at the Italian GP. In recent years, it has proven its performance and reliability on the historic circuit, taking victories in the Masters Historic Formula One and making an appearance at the prestigious Monaco Historic Grand Prix.
Presented in the striking and timeless John Player Special (JPS) livery, the car comes to market with a newly built Cosworth DFV engine by TMax engines, completely rebuilt gearbox and CWP, as well as new crack test certification and fuel cell. Prepared to the highest standards and on the weight limit the car is offered with an extensive spares package, this Lotus 87B is race-ready and eligible for top-level historic F1 events worldwide.
