Please note this lot has entered Switzerland on a temporary import bond, which must be cancelled either by exporting the lot outside of Switzerland on an approved Bill of Lading with supporting customs documentation or by paying the applicable VAT and import duties to have the lot remain in Switzerland.

Superseding the 330 America, the Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 was first displayed at the 1964 European Motor Show Brussels. Restyled by Pininfarina’s Tom Tjaarda to feature quad headlamps, a larger front grille, and more rakish nose and tail, Ferrari’s new grand tourer was much more than a facelifted 330 America. Beneath the tweaked bodywork lay an all-new chassis that was 50mm longer than the outgoing model, complemented by Koni adjustable shock absorbers that transformed handling.

Dunlop dual-circuit brakes with discs at all four corners provided stopping power to match its power output. The wonderful 4.0-litre derivation of the 250 GTE’s Colombo V-12 engine, meanwhile, was carried over. By the end of 1965, production of the Series I model—notable for its four-speed manual overdrive gearbox—had ended, with just 505 examples having been manufactured, according to the Ferrari expert Marcel Massini.

Built in October 1964, chassis 6327 left the Maranello factory finished in the elegant colour scheme of Grigio Argento over a Nero leather interior, and is noted by Massini as being supplied new to the Swiss dealer Italauto S.A. in Lausanne. This example was resold to Haute Performance S.A. in Morges, owned by Willy H. Felber—proprietor of the eponymous coachbuilder—after which the car was sold to its first private owner and registered in November 1964.

Following the sale to its first owner, little of the car’s history is documented until 10 April 2001, when it passed an inspection test according to a previous Swiss title. On 21 May 2008, the Ferrari was acquired by a resident of Figino, Switzerland. It is believed that this 330 GT was repainted in a shade of Marine Blue, with the interior retrimmed in beige leather, though the date of this work is unknown.

Following its acquisition by the current owner in 2015, this Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 was exported to Kuwait, where it remained in dry storage as part of a large collection. Please note this vehicle has not been driven for a number of years, and will require recommissioning prior to road use. Please contact an RM Sotheby’s representative for further information. The car is accompanied by a Ferrari Owners Survival Manual, factory data, and a spare wheel.

Retaining its matching-numbers chassis, engine, and rear axle, this 1964 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 is a tempting proposition for Ferrari enthusiasts and collectors alike to a acquire a Swiss-delivery example of a charming Ferrari grand tourer.
