The short story of the EB110 is well known: The Italian Romano Artioli was not only a huge Bugatti enthusiast but also an entrepreneur of great initiative and those two traits in unison made him decide to resurrect the Bugatti marque. In 1987 he acquired the marque Bugatti, in 1988 the construction of an entirely new factory began and only three years later the revived marque presented the brand new EB110 GT on the exact date of the birth of Ettore Bugatti 110 years earlier.

It was a huge feat as the car was not only built from absolute scratch, but also followed in the philosophical footsteps of Ettore Bugatti himself by aiming for the absolute top amongst the supercars of the day – and reaching that goal in direct competition with much bigger and better-established marques as Ferrari, Porsche and Jaguar.

To claim its position as the most super of supercars Bugatti had pulled all the stops technology-wise: Not only was the main structure a carbon fibre chassis fitted with a twelve cylinder engine with five valves per cylinder and no less than four turbochargers, but the EB110 also employed four wheel drive as well as active aerodynamics to harness its tremendous power of 560 horsepower through a six-speed gearbox. Everything was by Bugatti's own design and specific to the EB110, and it worked: Performance was overwhelmingly better than most rivals and a reborn Bugatti had certainly arrived. Famously in 1995 it was already all over as the company was declared bankrupt, fate of a general down in the economy.

The Bugatti EB110 burnt short and bright but its legacy still stands. Not only it was one of the absolute fastest and best cars of its era, but as importantly it is THE resurrector of the Bugatti marque. As such holds a very special place in Bugatti history and in the hearts of many a supercar enthusiast.

This specific example is a very early car, has covered only 8500 kilometers and has gathered an interesting history on its journey.
