EXTERIOR
The E39 Saloon has always been a popular workhorse; refined, practical and robust. As such, many of these models have rightly accrued significant mileage – a testimony to their durability – so a wholly original 30k mile example is quite a rare thing.

Paintwork is consistent throughout the car, with only a handful of stone chips to the front end belying the cars age.

The Shadow line trims that run around the windows prone to age show well, whilst all of the glass is clean with facelift lights clear of clouding or milkiness.

INTERIOR
So here presents a beautifully kept M Sport with rare Alcantara / Velour interior offering a considered balance of grip and comfort. Both front and rear seats are in first rate condition without any noticeable bolster wear to report.

There are no scuffs to any of the trim and all the functions and controls have been checked and are working well; thankfully free of pixilation that can so often affect these models. A Kenwood DAB head unit was also installed upon arrival into the UK; fitting the existing aperture perfectly and adding some modern day functionality.

The boot area is spotless and the carpet throughout the car is consistently clean throughout.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Lifting the bonnet reveals an immaculate M54 engine; commonly regarded as one of BMW’s most reliable units ever made. With sufficient torque to compliment cruising characteristics as well as delivering a decent turn of pace when required; the car is a truly great all-rounder.

The gearbox is smooth and perfectly tuned to the straight 6 specification.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The restored M Sport alloys match the fantastic presentation of the rest of the car; unmarked and shod in a matching set of Goodyear Eagle F1 with plenty of tread depth.
Brakes feel strong and capable on the road, displaying plenty of material both on the discs and pads during our intake inspection.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Murauchi BMW in April 2002, the car has enjoyed the salt free roads and Oceanic climate of Japan covering a mere 22k miles in 19 years. Imported into the UK in late June 2021, this E39 had a full inspection and was sold to its current owner.
