Beschreibung
This Alfa Romeo SZ carries number 616 of the approximately 1000 cars built. It was delivered new in Italy and then purchased by a Swedish enthusiast who used the car sparingly and kept it in pristine condition.
The SZ shows ultra low milage, few owners and has had a recent cambelt change and service: This car is ready for drivers, collectors or any combination thereof.
About the model:
The Alfa Romeo SZ (Sprint Zagato) was built between 1989 and 1991 by a partnership of Centro Stile Zagato, Centro Stile Alfa Romeo and Centro Stile Fiat.
The SZ’s design was neither modern nor conservative, and none of its elements were taken from any other model. Either you loved it or you didn’t. It was even dubbed ‘Il Mostro’ (the Monster) by the media.
The model was planned and designed over a very short period of 19 months, thanks to the use of a CAD/CAM system throughout the entire process.
The idea was that the SZ would take people by surprise, steal the limelight and improve Alfa Romeo’s image. A special racing class SZ Trophy was introduced to compete in races across Europe. Buyers intending to use the SZ for this purpose were given a 25% discount on the price to increase sales and promote the racing class.
The SZ was only available in red with a grey roof and tan leather interior. However, one special vehicle was produced in black for Andrea Zagato.
