Beschreibung

Chassis No. AR755846

Built over just three years from 1964 through 1966, the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTC is a rare, short-lived open-top variant of the Giulia Sprint GT, with just 998 examples produced. Conceived in the early 1960s amid strong demand for the Giulia range, serving as an interim solution while Alfa Romeo's next-generation Spider remained delayed in development.

Formally introduced to the press at Monza on 4 March 1965 alongside the Giulia Super, it made its public debut at the Geneva International Motor Show later that month. Retaining the mechanical specification of the Sprint GT, the GTC was converted to cabriolet form by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan, while preserving the 2+2 layout. Powered by the zesty 1.6-liter inline-four with dual carburetors, it was rated at 106 horsepower, capable of exceeding 180 km/h. Structural reinforcements were added to maintain rigidity, with ongoing refinements throughout production ensuring balanced handling and long-distance usability.

Sold new in Germany, this left-hand-drive GTC is one of just 247 examples produced in 1966. First registered in Ulm, Germany on 11 May 1966 with plate number "UL CC 181," it remained in Europe for much of its life. After extended use, the car was acquired by noted German collector Werner Brendel, who commissioned a comprehensive restoration at Giallo Modena, just north of Modena, Italy. Completed between December 2023 and April 2025, the work included refinishing the bodywork in Rosso, while the interior was retrimmed in Nero leather with a matching soft top. Equal attention was paid to the engine compartment and undercarriage.

Still fresh from its restoration, it displays just 154 kilometers at the time of cataloging, the total since completion. Offering the ability for a competitive concours display or a memorable classic tour, this rarely seen GTC, particularly compelling in 2026 marking the 100th anniversary of Carrozzeria Touring, is sure to be the ideal dose of la dolce vita wherever it goes.
